At Krista Szalc, Audiology, PLLC, we’re always looking for new technology that can help improve the lives of our patients. That’s why we’ve put together a list of 5 apps that can make life with hearing loss much easier.
For Easier Phone Calls: If you find yourself missing important parts of your phone calls, try downloading ClearCaptions. ClearCaptions adds free captions to your phone calls so you can both hear and read what is being said.
For Better TV Viewing: TVLouder acts as your personal sound amplifier – simply open the app and put on your headphones. The app uses the microphone in your phone to transmits the sound from your TV into your headphones. You can then adjust the sound to fit your needs without bothering those around you.
For A Complete Music Listening Experience: After completing a simple audio test on your iPhone or iPod Touch, SoundFocus creates an audio profile to match your hearing pattern. It then automatically compensates for the sounds your ear doesn’t hear well. Best of all, it works with all the music already in your music library.
For Tinnitus Sufferers: The Relax app by Starkey Hearing Technology promises relief for those suffering from tinnitus. The app, available on both iOS and Android devices, comes pre-loaded with 12 unique relief sounds. Users can also customize each sound to find the right relief for them.
For Safer Living: OtoSense automatically recognizes sounds typically found in homes, apartment buildings, offices and public places and alerts you of them. Sounds include oven timers, doorbells and smoke alarms. You can choose how you’d like to be notified of each sound – whether through flash, vibration or third-party notification.
