Have You Checked Your FSA Spending Account Lately? Use it Before You Lose It!

As we close out 2018 and all have our minds on the holidays and how we are spending the new year, it’s also probably a good time to check your Flexible Spending Account or FSA. That’s because that hard earned money you set aside could possibly go to waste if not spent by December 31st!
FSA piggy bankLuckily there is still time to utilize the money, but it’s important to meet with your plan administrator and be advised on certain dates, deadlines and periods. That’s because your company may offer rollover dollars where money from 2018 can be used in 2019, grace periods that could extended 2.5 months into 2019 and run-off periods that allow you to submit receipts up to 90 days after the fiscal year ends.
This extra money that you may have completely forgotten about could be used for a variety of different medical reasons that you may have been putting off, including getting your hearing checked.
Our hearing is not just about our ears. It impacts many aspects of our health and life and untreated hearing loss can lead to a variety of illnesses including an increased likelihood in Dementia as well as decreases in cognitive functions and increased potential of depression.
While most people wait until they experience some sort of hearing loss, in reality they more-than-likely have been living with a hearing problem from anywhere between 5 and 15 years before they actually take action.
By utilizing your FSA funds towards a baseline hearing exam, is an extremely good use of that money. This will provide a frame of reference for exams later in life and will provide you with the overall health of your ears.
One of the best things about your FSA funds is being able to spend pre-tax money on medical needs such as on your ears. But if you’re not careful and miss deadlines, you could be surrendering those unused funds, which is never any fun!
Don’t waste anymore time, make an appointment today and get those funds utilized! Call (585) 432-4480 or by clicking here!
Happy New Year from your friends at KS Audiology.
