Since it is the holiday season you have probably started or are thinking about starting your holiday shopping. You are probably looking to get some great deals on toys for children, but there are some things you should be cautious of before purchasing those toys.
Each year, the PIRG Education Fund makes a list of toys that could possibly be harmful to a child for different reasons. Some of these reasons could be hazardous chemicals, choking hazards, or the toys being too loud for a child’s ears. Here is a completed list of the toys. We wanted to bring attention to the noisy toys that could damage a child’s hearing.
Here is a list of the toys that can harm a child’s hearing:
- Vtech Smart Wheels
- 85 db
- Vtech Smart Animals
- 85db
- Vtech Spin and Learn Color Flashlight
- 95db
- Fisher Price Click n Learn Remote
- 80 db
- Leap Frog Fridge Phonics
- 80 db
- Leap Frog Fridge Phonics
- 80 db
Sounds higher than 85 db are viewed as harmful for adults. A child’s ears are even more sensitive to loud noises; therefore, these toys are said to be dangerous for children. Remember this when shopping for kids during the holidays and also keep in mind the full list of toys that should be avoided as well.
